Due to strong winds, the roof of school No. 29 in Krasnodar fell on students preparing to celebrate the last bell. This was announced by the mayor of the city, Evgeny Naumov.
According to the head of Krasnodar, 12 children were injured — they were not far from the school and were waiting for the start of the festive line on the occasion of the last bell. Five minors were hospitalized in the regional children's hospital; some of the victims refused help.
“Everyone has different degrees of severity, from mild to moderate,” Naumov said. Rescuers are currently at the scene. “As soon as the wind subsides, specialists will begin restoring the roof,” the mayor added.
The Investigative Committee opened a criminal investigation into the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements (Article 238 of the Criminal Code). The regional prosecutor's office is monitoring the investigation. According to the department, the roof was torn off at about 8:18 am.
