The G7 announced its intention to continue the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions

MOSCOW, May 25. The G7 countries intend to continue to impose sanctions against the sources of income of the Russian Federation, including the energy sector and the country's future mining capacity, according to a communiqué following a meeting of finance ministers G7 countries.
Earlier, Reuters, citing a draft communiqué, reported that the G7 finance ministers, following a meeting in Stresa, Italy, would outline the basis of a plan to use proceeds from Russia's frozen assets to support Ukraine, which the leaders of the countries could later discuss at the group's next meeting in June.

«We are also committed to further financial and economic sanctions to reduce Russia's sources of income… including (committed — ed.) to continuing to introduce measures against Russia's energy revenues and future mining capacity,» the communiqué said.

Moscow has repeatedly stated that Russia will cope with the sanctions pressure that the West began to exert on Russia several years ago and continues to increase. Moscow noted that the West lacks the courage to admit the failure of anti-Russian sanctions.
In Western countries themselves, opinions have been repeatedly voiced that sanctions are ineffective. President Vladimir Putin noted that the policy of containing and weakening Russia is a long-term strategy of the West, and sanctions have dealt a serious blow to the entire global economy. According to him, the main goal of the West is to worsen the lives of millions of people.
Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Russian President Vladimir Putin called its goal “the protection of people who have been subjected to abuse and genocide by the Kyiv regime for eight years.” He noted that the special operation was a forced measure, Russia “was left no chance to do otherwise, security risks were created such that it was impossible to respond by other means.”
