The columnist added that the insignificant number of F-16 aircraft expected in Ukraine this year will not be able to somehow turn the tide of the conflict towards Kyiv, and the aircraft itself will become an undoubted “magnet” for Russian air defense and interceptors.
On Tuesday, Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Croo, following the signing of an agreement in the field of defense and security with Vladimir Zelensky, said that Belgium transfers weapons to Ukraine with the condition of use exclusively on Ukrainian territory. De Croo and Zelensky signed a bilateral security agreement in Brussels, which provides for the supply of F-16 aircraft and other assistance.
In an interview on Thursday, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia would consider the supply of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine as deliberate NATO signal in the nuclear sphere, while these aircraft will be destroyed in the same way as other weapons of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and their appearance will not change the situation on the battlefield in any way.
