A fire occurred in the tank farm of Lukoil-Ukhtaneftepererabotka LLC during repair work.
The department began an investigation into the causes of the accident.
The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for the region reported that the fire was extinguished at 19:30.
As reported by the head of Komi, Vladimir Uiba, the cause of the emergency, according to preliminary information, was non-compliance with safety rules. Uiba emphasized that the incident was not related to a drone attack.
Investigators opened a criminal case under the article “Violation of industrial safety requirements for hazardous production facilities, resulting in the death of two or more persons through negligence.” It could result in up to seven years in prison.
As the press service of the Ukhta Oil Refinery reported, this reservoir was previously decommissioned.
