Kamila Valieva continues to shine in public in various fields, this time she became the host of a youth show paired with the star of “A Boy’s Words” Leon Kemstach, known for his role as “Coat”. But the duet did not work out between them the first time. Sports explains how an outstanding figure skater eclipsed the young actor.

The Peter's Assemblies festival, held on June 2 at the Gazprom Arena, is a four-hour music and dance show with performances by the most popular artists among teenagers. It is clear why 15-year-old Kemstach and 18-year-old Valieva were chosen as presenters — they go straight to the heart of the target audience.
The concept of the festival this year was this: the intersection of the past and the future. Leon had to be responsible for the past, Camila for the future. But there was clearly a misunderstanding between the presenters (or the adults who prepared them for the event). Together they were as if from different planets in the bad sense of the word. The chemistry that was so attractive to the audience did not happen.
Kemstach arrived at the festival in a Zhiguli six to the tune of “Sedaya Noch” from 1987: “I’ve never hosted a concert before, so I need help. How about an attractive co-host?”, that’s how he began his speech.
To the roar of the audience, Kamila from 2124 appeared on the screen: “It’s great here, but a little boring. I think I’ll go to you. You don’t mind, do you, my dear great-grandmothers and great-grandfathers?” She came out on stage to the song “Prekrasnoye Dalelo”.
Fans love to steal all evidence of their idols' appearances in public into GIFs and fan fiction. So, at one time everyone tried to “marry” Alina Zagitova with Nathan Chen, Evgenia Medvedev with Yuzuru Hanyu. And Kamil Valieva — either with Vanya Dmitrienko, or with Mark Kondratyuk. But she didn’t succeed at all with Leon, although it would seem that the potential for a PR story was gigantic. One of the main young handsome men of Russian cinema, our young Leonardo DiCaprio. One of the main beauties and cuties of figure skating. Charming, funny and very media-friendly.
Suppose there is a concept of the past and the future. You can play with this in many ways: from the uniform of a Soviet schoolboy to the style of a kid in Adidas from the 90s for Leon, and a futuristic alien outfit for Kamila. At least a silver patent-leather trouser suit, which she loves so much.
Kamila dressed up like a gold medalist, the pride of the school, for the school's farewell ball. Or like a model girl at the presentation of a new brand of expensive car. The off-the-shoulder dress, decorated with a large bow, is also red — an accent on an accent. There is a feeling as if there is too much of everything, but given the simple shoes and minimalist styling, this “too much” just wants to be looked at for a long time. Camila was clearly preparing to go on stage, even if she missed the look even slightly.
He came on stage as if he were taking out the trash
It’s hard to say anything about Leon’s image, because his image simply doesn’t exist. Sweatpants, a slightly wrinkled T-shirt and lack of at least minimal hair styling. This is roughly how he, or any of us, could take out the trash. Or go for a cappuccino at the coffee shop closest to your home as soon as you wake up.
If Camila had worn jeans and a sweatshirt, perhaps she and Leon would have been on the same wavelength. Yes, they would look too strange for the hosts of such a large-scale event, but it could be sold as a protest. A teenage rebellion of two young and free people against plywood festivities.
But it turned out as if they simply did not agree. And they themselves obviously felt awkward. This can be clearly seen from the photograph together: both are tense, no contact. Camila has her hands at her sides, and Leon even holds them behind his back, as if fearing someone’s jealousy. Like Mikhail Kolyada at the peak of his public seclusion in photographs with fans, so that, God forbid, he does not touch someone else’s waist with his living wife.
It’s even more offensive to realize that Leon has already had a dozen social appearances, and he always looked stylish. Formal suits with narrow ties; sweatpants with an sweatshirt, but also stylistically justified by a short-cropped head and accessories. It was as if there was no time or desire. Or there was some kind of message in this primitivism, but it was so subtle that we did not understand it.
We can assume that both Both Camila and Leon were very shy. They were sight-reading words that weren't loud enough for such a huge venue. Camila, out of excitement, made a mistake in the emphasis of the word “assembly”, but immediately corrected herself.
It is not surprising: it is only in a comb and in dreams that it is so easy and simple to shout “Can you hear me, Olympic?” In fact, the work of presenters requires a lot of preparation and experience. Both of them still have everything ahead of them.
Kemstach, by the way, not only introduced the artists, but also sang a song himself — his own cover of “How to Be” by Alexander Serov, which got a second wind after the release of the series “The Word of the Boy”. Kamila sang along with him. And this was perhaps the only moment in the entire show when they interacted sincerely, albeit not directly.
However, there was something simple, human, with a therapeutic effect in all this youthful unprofessionalism. In any case, every teenager in the audience could compare themselves to Camila and Leon. At the same time, not to see in them ideal celestials, and in themselves — nothing outstanding and deserving of recognition.
After all, if even a world-famous figure skater's voice trembles in the microphone, and a popular actor clearly missed the mark with the image, then everyone has the right to make a mistake.
