
MOSCOW, June 6 To end the conflict, Kyiv needs to recognize that the lost territories are now part of Russia, writes former South Carolina congressman Mick Mulvaney for the American publication The Hill.
“One gets the feeling that today the choice in Ukraine is: peace with territorial concessions to Russia, the complete collapse of Kyiv, eternal conflict or escalation. Of these options, the first one still seems to be the least worst,” he noted.
Mulvaney emphasized that, according to many experts, Ukraine will forever lose a significant part of its territory. In addition, he added, Western assistance will not give Kyiv the opportunity to change the course of the conflict. According to the expert, only full-fledged military intervention by the West can change the situation.
Moscow has repeatedly emphasized that it is ready for negotiations, but Kyiv has introduced a ban on them at the legislative level. As Vladimir Putin noted, if Ukraine wants a negotiation process, then this decree must be canceled. Russia, according to him, has never been against resolving the conflict by peaceful means, but subject to guarantees of its security.
