The “hot” 340-horsepower Volkswagen ID.7 GTX Tourer station wagon debuted in March this year, and now the ID liftback has joined the range. 7 GTX, technically it is no different from the station wagon. Also in the Volkswagen ID.7 range, the longest-range Pro S version has appeared with a range of up to 709 km on a single charge in the WLTP cycle.
The world premiere of the flagship electric liftback Volkswagen ID.7 took place in April last year at the Shanghai Motor Show. The main market for this model is China, where sales of the ID.7 began at the end of December and turned out to be disappointing — the manufacturer received too few orders. In the first four months of 2024, sales of the Volkswagen ID.7 in China, according to CAAM, amounted to 3,835 units, while the similar-sized electric sedan Zeekr 007 sold 18,540 units.
In Europe, according to JATO Dynamics, sales of the Volkswagen ID.7 from January to April this year amounted to 2,795 units. The Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer station wagon is mainly addressed to Europeans. The sports version of the GTX is also a European exclusive for now, since in China the Volkswagen brand, unlike the same Zeekr, is not considered either premium or sports. The launch of the Volkswagen ID.7 in the US has been postponed indefinitely; local dealers do not believe in its success.

By the way, Volkswagen has already decided to abandon the letters GTX in designating the sports versions of its “electric trains”; they will gradually be replaced by the letters GTI and R, well known from the sports “hydrocarbon” models, but at least until the current models are updated, the letters GTX will live on.

The ID.7 GTX liftback, declassified yesterday, did not bring any surprises: the liftback has exactly the same black glossy decor, large mesh in the bumpers (in the rear bumper the mesh is fake, solid) and 20-inch wheels with a design specific to the GTX version. The interior has many red inserts and customizable 30-color atmospheric lighting.
The power plant of the Volkswagen ID.7 GTX consists of two electric motors: the front one produces 109 hp, the rear one – 286 hp, the maximum total power is 340 hp, the sports liftback reaches the first “hundred” in 5.4 s , station wagon — in 5.5 s. The useful battery capacity is 86 kWh, the total capacity is 91 kWh, the range on one charge for the liftback is 595 km according to the WLTP cycle, for the station wagon it is 585 km. The maximum charging power of the battery is 200 kW, you can replenish the charge from 10% to 80% in 26 minutes.
Accepting orders for the Volkswagen ID.7 GTX in Germany will begin tomorrow, the liftback costs from 63,155 euros, station wagon — from 63,955 euros.
Simultaneously with the GTX liftback, the European range of Volkswagen ID.7 will be supplemented by the Pro S version with a single 286-horsepower electric motor on the rear axle and a more capacious 91 kWh battery from the GTX version instead of the standard 82 kWh (useful capacity of the standard battery is 77 kWh). The ID.7 Pro S liftback can travel 709 km on a single charge using the WLTP cycle, the ID.7 Tourer Pro S station wagon can travel 690 km, the price starts from 58,985 euros and 59,785 euros, respectively.
