A balloon pilot from Yoshkar-Ola was sentenced in absentia in the case of military “fakes”

The Yoshkar-Ola City Court of Mari El sentenced Dmitry Obmaikin in absentia to five years in a general regime colony in the case of distributing “fakes” about the actions of the Russian military in Ukraine. The press service of the court reported this to Mediazona.

The 39-year-old hot air balloon pilot left Russia a few days after the start of mobilization in September 2022.

He told Mediazona that he did not know what exactly his persecution was connected with (clause “e” of Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code).

On his VKontakte page, Obmaikin reposted “Team Navalny” and talked about his participation in the Moscow protests of 2019 during the Moscow City Duma elections.

After leaving, the Yoshkara resident published posts about the consequences of Russian shelling of Ukraine and the crash of the Boeing MH-17, and also set the profile status to the words “No to war! Putler on the bunk!”
