The United States imposed sanctions against the Moscow Exchange and the Sogaz insurance company

The United States has added the Moscow Exchange, the National Clearing Center (NCC), and the insurance company Sogaz to its sanctions list. This was reported on the website of the US Department of the Treasury.

As noted by RBC, the NCC acts as a counterparty in all currency transactions on the Moscow Exchange. Due to the new sanctions, the latter will not conduct trades with the euro and dollar from June 13.

The restrictions also affect the Gazprom Invest, Arctic LNG 1, Arctic LNG 3, Rosdobycha projects, and the pro-Russian head of the Gagauz Autonomous Region in Moldova, Evgenia Gutsul. In addition, the updated sanctions list includes companies from China, Turkey, the UAE, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, and South Africa. According to the US Department of Justice, they helped Russia circumvent Western sanctions.

The US agency separately warned foreign companies about the risk of secondary sanctions for transactions involving Russian banks – Sber and VTB. US authorities view this as “assistance to the Russian military-industrial complex.”
