History teacher Nikita Tushkanov was sent to a punishment cell in IK-20, Vologda region, where he is being held because of a comment about the explosion on the Kerch Bridge. This was reported in the telegram channel “Notes of Prisoner Nikita Tushkanov.”
The teacher was placed in a punishment cell for two weeks — from June 6 to June 20. Tushkanov’s relatives did not say why he was sent there, but said that because of this, the convict’s meeting with his mother was disrupted. The woman found out that it would not take place when she had already arrived at the colony.
The administration of IK-20 told Tushkanov’s relatives that they were giving him the necessary medications, and also provided him with shoes and clothes, and gave him all the books. At the same time, the teacher has problems with letters — both to him and from him, correspondence arrives with a strong delay, sometimes by three months.

In May 2023, a military court sentenced Tushkanov to five and a half years in prison because of a comment in which a teacher called the explosion on the Kerch Bridge “a birthday present for Putler.” The case also involved several of his anti-war posts.
Tushkanov was found guilty of justifying terrorism and “discrediting” the Russian army (Articles 205.2 and 280.3 of the Criminal Code). Later, his sentence was reduced by six months.
Teachers have already been sent to a punishment cell in December 2023. Then he was placed in isolation for seven days due to the fact that he was in bed before lights out. The colony staff also told Tushkanov that they would deny him a visit if he did not go out to clear the snow.
