The Supreme Court of Udmurtia sentenced a 20-year-old resident of the village of Debesy to 12 years in prison in the case of arson of a relay cabinet in Izhevsk, the united press service of the republic's courts reported.
He was found guilty of sabotage (clause «a» of part 2 of article 281 of the Criminal Code). He will spend the first three years of his sentence in prison, the rest of the time — in a maximum security colony. The resident of the village admitted guilt in full.
The court found that in mid-July 2023, the young man contacted an «unidentified person» via Telegram. The interlocutor offered him to set fire to a relay cabinet in Izhevsk for 15 thousand rubles and gave him the coordinates, «instructions on how to commit sabotage and information on methods of conspiracy.»
At night, the young man broke open the relay cabinet with a hammer, poured gasoline on the outside and inside, set it on fire, filmed the fire on his phone and sent it to a stranger in a telegram, according to the verdict.
On the section of the Gorky Railway in Izhevsk where the convicted man committed the arson, not only passenger trains run, but also trains with dangerous goods, «including those intended to provide the SVO,» the court emphasized.
