MOSCOW, June 17 Kurganmashzavod of the High-Precision Complexes holding (part of Rostec) delivered a new batch of BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles to the Russian Armed Forces , equipped with additional armor and “cloaks” that make them less noticeable in the thermal range, the press service of the state corporation reported.
«Today, Kurganmashzavod handed over to the Ministry of Defense another batch of BMP-3 with standard sets of additional protection. Such equipment is especially in demand in the Northern Military District zone. In addition to the supply of new vehicles, Kurganmashzavod is significantly ahead of schedule for the overhaul of BMP-3, as well as BMD- landing vehicles 4M. Fulfilling the state defense order is a priority for us,” Bekhan Ozdoev, industrial director of the complex of conventional weapons, ammunition and special chemicals at Rostec, is quoted in the message.
The BMP-3s transferred to the troops are equipped with anti-cumulative grilles, armored screens, as well as “capes” — kits to reduce visibility in the thermal and radar spectrum. They are made of synthetic fire-resistant material and make it difficult to detect equipment using observation devices, including thermal imagers.
