MOSCOW, June 18 The Basmanny Court of Moscow has registered five more requests from investigators for arrests in absentia of foreign citizens in a mercenary case, according to the portal of Moscow courts of general jurisdiction.
““Materials have been registered on the election of a preventive measure in the form of detention of Hussein D., Babitsky M., Margulis B., McArdle A., Mitchell A.R.,” the file says.
All of them are charged with Part 3 of Art. 359 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (participation of a mercenary in an armed conflict or hostilities). The court did not provide details about the defendants.
Yesterday, the authorities also granted five petitions for arrests of foreign mercenaries in absentia.
Recently, the capital's court has regularly arrested mercenaries in absentia, often they have Georgian surnames; this measure was also applied to the Belarusian rower, participant in the 2004 and 2008 Olympics Pavel Shurmei.
