The prosecutor's office sent materials to initiate criminal cases against Tamara Eidelman, Yana Troyanova and Monetochka

The prosecutor's office demanded that criminal cases be opened against singer Monetochka (Elizaveta Gyrdymova), actress Yana Troyanova and historian Tamara Eidelman. The department reported this on its Telegram channel.

As stated in the press release of the prosecutor's office, the department conducted an investigation of the publications of Troyanova, Eidelman and Monetochka and identified violations of criminal law. The investigation materials were transferred to the investigative bodies to initiate criminal cases.

Thus, in the author’s program on the Eidelman channel, security forces identified statements “expressing clear disrespect for the day of military glory of Russia and the memorable date of Russia associated with the defense of the Fatherland, as well as insulting the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland.” We are probably talking about publications on the YouTube channel “History Lessons with Tamara Eidelman” – because of them, the prosecutor’s office demands that a case be opened for the rehabilitation of Nazism (Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code).

According to the department, a case should be opened against Troyanova under the article on inciting hatred or enmity on the basis of nationality (clause “a” of part 2 of article 282 of the Criminal Code). The reason for this was an interview with the actress, in which there were statements “expressing and forming a hostile and hateful attitude towards Russians, justifying and affirming the need to commit violent actions against Russians.”

On June 11, the head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, ordered an investigation into Troyanova because of a video of her interview in which she “publicly expresses support for calls for the murder of Russians, including children.” Two days before this, Novaya Gazeta Europe published an interview with the actress – in it, Troyanova said that Russians “deserve” to hear calls to kill Russians because of the war in Ukraine.

The prosecutor’s office demands that a case be opened against Monetochka article on evasion of duties under the legislation on “foreign agents” (Part 2 of Article 330.1 of the Criminal Code). The department justified this by the fact that the singer, despite the fines, continues to distribute materials on social networks without indicating that she is on the Ministry of Justice register. Monetochka herself was recognized as a “foreign agent” in January 2023. Eidelman was given the same status in September 2022, and Troyanova in November 2023.
