Ash fall from Karymsky volcano eruption not ruled out in Kamchatka

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, June 21 Ash fall from the eruption of the Karymsky volcano is possible in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Vilyuchinsk and part of the Elizovsky region, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Kamchatka Territory reported.
“»The ash plume is spreading in the south-west direction. On the path of the ash plume there are Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Vilyuchinsky urban districts, as well as the Elizovsky municipal district. Volcanic ash may fall out there,» the report says.
Karymsky Volcano today threw ash to a height of up to 5.5 km above sea level. The giant has been assigned an orange aviation hazard code. Karymsky’s activity may pose a danger to aircraft involved in local air transportation.

Previously, Karymsky, for the first time since August 22, 2022, threw out a column of ash 6 km above sea level. Scientists believe that the new volcanic eruption will be prolonged.

Karymsky Volcano is located in the central part of Kamchatka and is one of the most active. Its height is 1468 meters above sea level.
