Other emblems and nameplates will be hung on the Exeed SUV. Most likely, like the donor SUV, the new product will have a two-liter turbo engine.
The South African division of Omoda distributed a teaser of the new crossover with a promise to start sales soon. The model name has not yet been revealed. However, the company is intriguing in vain: if you lighten the picture, you can easily spot the SUV in the car, which was exhibited in South Africa last year as the Omoda C9. “Nine”, in turn, was an Exeed RX with a different emblem and nameplates, since the Exeed brand is not going to be introduced to the market of this African country. Omoda's commodity crossover is expected to retain the C9 index. Well, let us remind you that the Omoda and Exeed brands belong to the Chinese company Chery. Together with the parent company, both brands are present in Russia, and in our country the original RX is just available, so such a crossover of the Omoda C9 is obviously not in the cards for us.

In terms of exterior design, Omoda’s African flagship will be no different from the donor. That is, the dimensions will probably be the same. The length of the global Exeed RX is 4775 mm, width – 1920 mm, height – 1671 mm, wheelbase – 2800 mm.

The interior of the production Omoda C9 has not yet been exposed, but there should be no changes there either, with the exception of the location of the steering wheel (in South Africa — left-hand traffic). By the way, in 2023 they showed an Omoda SUV with a steering wheel installed on the side familiar to Russians: it is possible that later the C9 will appear in countries with right-hand traffic, but only where there is no Exeed brand (for example, in the Philippines) .
Exeed RX
According to preliminary information, in South Africa the crossover will be offered with the same 2.0 petrol turbo engine , which is also equipped with the Exeed RX: for the Omoda C9, the engine will allegedly be tuned to 262 hp. and 400 Nm (in the Russian Federation — 249 hp and 385 Nm). Local specialized media believe that the new product will be offered with a classic eight-speed automatic transmission (the Russian Exeed RX only recently had such a gearbox) and all-wheel drive. However, all the characteristics of the Omoda C9 will become known after the official launch.
Meanwhile, Omoda is preparing a new crossover for the global market: a completely original model with the C7 index should go on sale next year. This SUV will probably be brought to Russia.
