The sedan has changed outside and inside, and the equipment has also been improved. The engines are the same, but the standard model after restyling will be available exclusively with an automatic transmission.
The American division of Volkswagen has just presented the updated four-door Jetta for the second time. The previous restyling was carried out in 2021, but the debut of the current generation model took place in 2018. By the way, Jetta ended last year in the States in the black: according to the local office of the brand, 47,408 units were sold there, which is 24% more than in 2022. However, the main competitors are still far ahead. Thus, the Nissan Sentra sedan sold 109,195 units in the United States (+ 41%), the result of the Kia Forte (aka Cerato in other countries) is 123,953 units (+ 14%), Hyundai Elantra — 134,149 units. (+14%).
Before — now
The Jetta got a new radiator grille, bumpers, headlights and taillights. There are no longer separate vertical sections of running lights at the front. The palette of body colors has also been expanded, plus new design wheels (17- or 18-inch) have appeared.

The engines are the same. The standard sedan is equipped with a 1.5 petrol turbo-four with a power of 160 hp; under the hood of the Jetta GLI there is a 2.0 turbo engine with a power of 231 hp. After restyling, a regular sedan lost its six-speed manual transmission: this Jetta will be offered exclusively with a classic eight-speed automatic. But the GLI version retains the 6MT, the alternative is a seven-speed DSG robotic gearbox. The “hot” sedan also has an adaptive suspension. In any case, the drive is only front-wheel drive.

In the US, sales of the updated Volkswagen Jetta are scheduled to start in the third quarter of this year. So far, only the base price has been announced — $21,995, which is equivalent to approximately 1.92 million rubles at the current exchange rate. A pre-reform sedan with a manual now costs from $21,435 (about 1.87 million rubles). All prices, traditionally for America, do not include taxes and delivery. Chinese four-doors related to the Jetta — VW Sagitar and VW Lavida — should be updated next.
