
MOSCOW, June 27 The Venezuelan national team beat the Mexican team in the second round of the group stage of the Copa America, which is taking place in the United States, and advanced to the quarterfinals of the tournament.
The Group B match, which took place in Inglewood (California, USA), ended with a score of 1:0 in favor of the Venezuelan team. The goal was scored by former forward of Kazan Rubin, St. Petersburg Zenit and CSKA Salomon Rondon (57th minute, from the penalty spot). Mexican midfielder Luis Chavez, who plays for Dynamo Moscow in the RPL, played the entire match.
In another match of the quartet, the Ecuadorian national team beat the Jamaican team 3:1, which lost its chances of getting into the playoffs.
The Venezuelan national team, having scored 6 points, secured first place in the group. Next are the teams of Ecuador (3 points), Mexico (3) and Jamaica (0). In the next round, the Venezuelan national team will play against the Jamaican team on June 30, and the Mexicans will meet the Ecuadorians.
The 2024 America's Cup is being held in the United States from June 20 to July 14. Initially, the tournament was supposed to be held in Ecuador, but the country refused to host it. In this regard, the organizers decided to move the competition to the United States.
