Geely declassified the design of the Galaxy E5 electrocross in May. And today preliminary prices have been announced in the Middle Kingdom, local dealers have begun accepting applications. The exact price list will appear in August, at which time “live” sales will start. Let us remind you that Galaxy is a separate family that was created last year specifically for electrified cars. The E5 SUV became the fourth model in the range, joining the hybrid Galaxy L6 sedan and Galaxy L7 crossover and the purely electric four-door Galaxy E8.

The Galaxy E5 is based on the GEA (Geely Electric Architecture) platform, that is, a variation of SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture). The E8 sedan is based on the latter “trolley,” while the L6 and L7 hybrids are built on the E-CMA platform (a variant of CMA, Compact Modular Architecture). The length of the “five” is 4615 mm, width – 1901 mm, height – 1670 mm, distance between the axles – 2750 mm. Thus, in terms of its dimensions, the electric crossover is close to the gasoline Geely Atlas of the second generation.
Externally, the Geely Galaxy E5 has something in common with the Galaxy E8 electric sedan. The crossover gets similar “broken” daytime running lights, plus it can also put on a light show: a lot of LEDs are built into the blank front part. Other exterior features include retractable door handles and single taillights.

In the cabin there are separate screens for the instrument panel and multimedia system, a flattened steering wheel and a two-story central tunnel. The SUV by default has the Flyme Auto operating system from Meizu. There is a drawer under the rear seat. And in total, “33 storage spaces” are stated. The trunk volume, alas, has not yet been revealed.

At the moment, the Geely Galaxy E5 is offered only in a rear-wheel drive modification with a 218-horsepower electric motor. At the same time, the company claims that the crossover will reach the first «hundred» in 6 seconds. The model is available in five versions. The basic and next-highest configurations have a battery with a capacity of 49.52 kW * h, the range is 440 km according to the Chinese CLTC cycle. The remaining versions are equipped with a 60.22 kW * h battery, their range is 530 km.
The list of standard equipment includes 18-inch wheels, the above-mentioned screens, six airbags, all-round cameras, cruise control. «Medium» versions also have a panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, wireless charging for a smartphone. Well, the arsenal of the richest crossovers includes a front passenger seat with a footrest (the first row also has a massage function), ambient interior lighting, a projection display, adaptive «cruise», a lane keeping system. Options include the same illuminated nose and 19-inch wheels.
The Geely Galaxy E5 with a basic battery is currently priced at 123,000–133,000 yuan (about 1.47 million–1.6 million rubles at the current exchange rate), while the longer-range SUV will cost 137,000–157,000 yuan (1.64 million–1.9 million rubles). But let's not forget that the prices are still preliminary, which means that the real prices may end up being slightly lower.
After the Galaxy E5 has mastered the domestic market, it will be sent for export — it will have, among other things, a right-hand drive version.
