WASHINGTON, July 6American entrepreneur and billionaire Elon Musk on Saturday warned about the dangers of using the WhatsApp messenger from Meta Platforms* Corporation from the point of view of protecting user data.
Musk responded to a publication by users of the social network X, which discussed the claim that end-to-end encryption in WhatsApp supposedly allows you to completely protect correspondence in chats of the service. 
«WhatsApp is not safe at all,» the billionaire wrote in response to a comment that, despite the messenger's claim of privacy of discussions, users receive online advertising related to the topics of discussions in the app's chats.
In April, the Wall Street Journal reported that the American company Apple was forced to remove the WhatsApp messenger and the Threads social network, which belong to Meta Platforms*, from its App Store in China at the request of the Chinese authorities for reasons of national security.
*The activities of Meta (the social networks Facebook and Instagram) are banned in Russia as extremist.
