The Ministry of Justice included the community of Russian-speaking people in Finland on the list of “undesirable organizations”

The Russian Ministry of Justice added two initiatives from Finland to the list of “undesirable organizations” — Venajan Demokratian Puolesta and Vuoksi Ry.

Judging by the Ministry of Justice, the Prosecutor General's Office recognized these organizations as “undesirable” on June 20. What exactly was the reason is unknown: the department did not publicly announce its decision.

Venajan Demokratian Puolesta — “Democratic community of Russian speakers in Finland.” Judging by its Facebook page, it holds evenings of letters to political prisoners, helps Ukrainian refugees and participates in anti-war actions.

The human rights project OVD-Info suggested that Vuoksi Ry is an orienteering club from South Karelia, a region of Finland that borders Russia. Later, Echo of Helsinki journalist Valery Klepkin told human rights activists that in Finnish the full name of the Russian-speaking community is written as Suomen venäjänkielisten demokraattinen yhteisö “Vuoksi” ry. Probably, the Ministry of Justice considered that these were two different organizations, and not one.

In June, the Prosecutor General's Office recognized the Finnish missionary organization International Russian Radio & Television (IRR/TV).
