AFP: two players of the French national rugby team detained in Argentina
Two players from the French rugby team touring South America were arrested Monday in Argentina in connection with sexual assault allegations.
< p>As reported by AFP, Martin Ahumanda, a representative of the Mendoza prosecutor's office, said that two athletes who were directly involved in the French team's victory over Argentina last Saturday will be taken from Buenos Aires to Mendoza, where the crime allegedly occurred.
According to local media reports, the alleged attack took place at the Diplomatic Hotel, where France players and staff were staying during a test match last weekend. Local prosecutors have called for the immediate arrest of the suspects.
France is due to travel to Montevideo on Tuesday to play Uruguay on Wednesday. The French Rugby Federation (FFR) has not yet responded to AFP's request for comment.
