The Moscow regional court sentenced Voronezh resident Anton Osipenko to 9 years and 10 months in a maximum security colony in the case of attempted treason (part 3 of article 30; article 275 of the Criminal Code). The press service of the court reported this to RIA Voronezh.
According to the investigation, Osipenko was going to join the international legion of territorial defense of Ukraine. The Voronezh resident was first detained in March 2022 at Domodedovo airport, from where he planned to fly to Yerevan. He did not admit his guilt.
Osipenko said that after his arrest in Domodedovo, FSB officers sent him to Voronezh. According to the young man, the security forces “choked [him] with a bag, beat him on his arms, legs, kidneys” and forced him to sign a confession document. After this, Osipenko was released.
The Voronezh man remained free for almost a year; on February 22, 2023, they came to search him, detained him, and soon sent him to a pre-trial detention center. Osipenko connects his persecution with his anti-war position and the fact that he is an ethnic Ukrainian.
In 2021, protocols were drawn up twice against Voronezh residents for participation in the January rally in support of Alexei Navalny. As the authors of the project “Free People of Voronezh” write, Osipenko was tried twice in different courts for speaking at the rally.
