The St. Petersburg City Court, at the request of the Ministry of Justice, liquidated the local “Latvian Society”. This was reported by the press secretary of the city courts Daria Lebedeva.
The “Latvian Society” exists in St. Petersburg at the local “House of Nationalities”. The organization was registered in 2016.
As Lebedeva writes, during July last year the Ministry of Justice carried out an inspection of the Latvian Society. The department claims that the organization did not conduct “activities to achieve its statutory goals,” and its charter did not comply with the law.
In particular, the Ministry of Justice pointed out that the Latvian Society did not comply with “the provisions of the charter regarding the procedure for the activities of the presidium and the auditor” and did not determine the procedure and payment of membership fees. Representatives of the defendant did not come to the trial.
