The FSB reported on preventing an explosion on the aircraft-carrying cruiser Admiral Kuznetsov, which was being prepared by the Ukrainian special services. Interfax reports this with reference to the department's press service.
According to the security forces, in March 2024, an employee of the Ukrainian special services, who introduced himself as Oleg, contacted a Russian who served on the Admiral Kuznetsov. For carrying out the explosion, the latter was offered a large reward and the opportunity to leave Russia. According to the FSB, the Ukrainian said that the operation was personally supervised by the head of the GUR< /span> Kirill Budanov.
“To assemble the incendiary device, the Ukrainian special service sent the missing components to the serviceman through a transport and logistics company. He was assured that immediately after receiving a video recording confirming the arson on the cruiser, he would be evacuated to Finland, and the cache prepared in the border area already contained documents and funds prepared for him,” the FSB claims.
After the Russian serviceman contacted the security forces, it was decided to stage an explosion on the Admiral Kuznetsov and send the video to Oleg. The FSB claims that after receiving the message, the latter deleted his messenger accounts. A criminal case was opened against the alleged representative of Ukrainian intelligence for incitement to commit a terrorist attack (Part 1.1 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code).
The security forces also reported the detention in Moscow of a man who, on instructions from the GUR, planned to deliver bombs to the addresses of three high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Defense. A criminal case was opened against him for attempted terrorist attack (Part 1 of Article 30; Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code) and illegal trafficking in explosives (Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code).
The detainee admitted that he had been collaborating with Ukrainian intelligence since May 2024. The security forces did not inform about the preventive measure chosen for him.
