MOSCOW, July 12, Andrey Simonenko. National Anti-Doping Organization of Italy (NADO Italia) refused to announce the verdict in the anti-doping rule violation case against Italian figure skater Daniel Grassl, citing a decision by the Italian Privacy Office.
In September last year, a source reported that Grassl left Eteri Tutberidze's group in Russia after violating anti-doping rules; the athlete missed doping tests three times. This information was later confirmed by the National Anti-Doping Organization of Italy. In December, ANSA reported that the prosecution had requested a two-year ban for the athlete. However, in June it became known that Grassl had begun training, and the International Skating Union (ISU) declared him to participate in the Grand Prix series.
“Due to the decision of the Italian Privacy Office, we are unable to respond to your request,” NADO Italia said in response to a request to report the verdict in the case of Grassle violating anti-doping rules.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) also did not disclose information on the case of the Italian figure skater. “You must contact the national results processing authority, in this case NADO Italia,” the WADA press service said.
