MOSCOW, July 12 The Ukrainian Hockey Federation (UHF) released a statement in which she announced that she was initiating a procedure to begin depriving the Ukrainian coach Vyacheslav Zavalnyuk, who joined the headquarters of the Nizhny Novgorod “Chaika”, of titles and awards.
Earlier, «Chaika», which is the youth team of the Nizhny Novgorod «Torpedo», announced the inclusion of 49-year-old Zavalnyuk in the team's coaching staff.
«Information has been received that Vyacheslav Zavalnyuk, a former hockey player of the Ukrainian national team and an ex-employee of the Hockey Federation of Ukraine, has joined the coaching staff of the Chaika club. Considering Zavalnyuk's shameful act, the Ukrainian Hockey Federation is initiating a procedure to begin depriving this person of all sports and government titles, including the Order of Merit, III degree, awarded in 2008,” says the FHU statement on Instagram*.
During his career, Zavalnyuk played for Metallurg Magnitogorsk, Severstal Cherepovets, Sibir Novosibirsk, SKA St. Petersburg, Dynamo Moscow and Krylia Sovetov. He also played in the Kyiv clubs Sokol and ShVSM and for the Ukrainian national team, with which he took part in the 2002 Olympics. Later he held the positions of head of the Ukrainian national team and vice-president of the FHU.
