The four-door has had its exterior design tweaked, and there are new things inside too. The top “traditional” version was removed from the range, but a junior hybrid appeared.
The Toyota Avalon sedan was originally conceived primarily for America, but the model has left the States for a couple of years now. The reason is collapsed demand. So from now on, the main market for the big four-door is China. They sell locally produced cars; the FAW Toyota joint venture is responsible for production. The Chinese Avalon underwent a full restyling in 2022. And now the sedan has been modernized again: the premiere was held today, July 12.
There are no large-scale changes in appearance this time — just retouching. As before, the Toyota Avalon is available with two grille options. The initial versions have horizontal stripes and “plates”, while they are now completely silver (the pre-reform sedan had black decor with shiny splashes), making the “grill” look more massive. Expensive versions — with a mesh grille (the pattern itself has been changed).

Customers will no longer be able to choose a sedan with chrome trim on the rear bumper. However, the range of body colors has been expanded, and new design wheels have appeared (the models are equipped with 17-, 18- or 19-inch wheels). The dimensions are the same. The length of the Avalon is 4990 mm, the width is 1850 mm, the height is 1450 mm, the wheelbase is 2870 mm.

Inside, there is a new steering wheel and improved finishing materials. In addition, richer trim levels received a more responsive multimedia system with a 12.3-inch diagonal touchscreen. The simpler versions have a 10.25-inch screen. The list of equipment also includes (depending on the version): a head-up display, virtual instrumentation, climate control and a set of safety systems called Toyota Pilot.

“Traditional” version with naturally aspirated 2.5 (207 hp) and a classic eight-speed automatic transmission gamma is excluded. The sedan now has one purely petrol modification — with a 2.0 engine (173 hp) and a CVT. At the same time, a hybrid version has been added with installation based on a two-liter engine, the total output is 197 hp. At the top of the range is still a hybrid with 2.5, the total power of this Avalon is 230 hp. Front-wheel drive only.
The price of the modernized Toyota Avalon sedan ranges from 178,800 to 256 800 yuan, which is equivalent to approximately 2.1 million — 3.08 million rubles at the current exchange rate.
