TASS: China is ready to give a symmetrical response to American sanctions
Tensions between China and the United States escalated again after the American administration imposed visa restrictions on a number of Chinese officials, accusing them of human rights violations. In response to these actions, Beijing expressed a strong protest, saying that the restrictions are a gross violation of international law and interference in the internal affairs of China.
Press Secretary of the Chinese Embassy in the United States Liu Pengyu, commenting on the situation to TASS, emphasized that Issues related to the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR), Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) and Hong Kong are purely internal affairs of China. According to him, no foreign state has the right to interfere in these issues. The diplomatic representative stressed that Beijing calls on the United States to stop discrediting China and lift illegal unilateral sanctions against Chinese officials. Otherwise, “China will not flinch and will respond symmetrically.”
