ST. PETERSBURG, July 13. Almost all the residents of a five-story building in the city of Opochka, Pskov region, where household gas exploded, returned to their apartments, said regional governor Mikhail Vedernikov.
Earlier on Saturday in Opochka, a household gas cylinder exploded in a five-story building that was not connected to the centralized gas supply. As a result, two people were injured, three apartments and two cars were damaged, Vedernikov reported. The prosecutor's office of the Pskov region organized an inspection.
«A comprehensive study of the damaged apartment building (multi-apartment building — ed.) was conducted. As a result, all residents (except for the residents of the three most damaged apartments) returned home. The management company began prompt repairs of door and window openings,» the Pskov governor wrote on his Telegram channel.
He added that water and food supplies for people were organized at the scene of the incident in the morning. The residents did not need a temporary accommodation center.
As specified in the Telegram channel of the regional department of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, a domestic gas explosion led to a fire on an area of 15 square meters, which was extinguished by 11 specialists from the Russian Emergencies Ministry and five units of equipment.
According to Vedernikov, rescuers arrived at the scene four minutes after the signal was received by the duty service, and the fire was extinguished five minutes later.
