MOSCOW, July 13 Czech tennis player Barbora Krejcikova beat Italian Jasmine Paolini in the Wimbledon final, which takes place on grass courts in London.
The meeting ended with a score of 6:2, 2:6, 6:4 in favor of 31st seed Krejcikova. Paolini was the seventh seed. The tennis players spent 1 hour 56 minutes on the court.

The tennis players played each other for the first time in the main draw of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) tournament. Last year, Wimbledon was also won by a Czech tennis player — Marketa Vondrousova beat Tunisia's Ons Jabeur in the final. Before this, the tournament was won two years in a row by representatives of the same country in 2008 and 2009, then sisters Venus and Serena Williams became Wimbledon champions in turn. The only Russian woman to win the tournament in London is Maria Sharapova (2004).
In the main draw of Wimbledon 2024, 11 Russian women started, the furthest was Anna Kalinskaya, who withdrew due to an injury during the match against the representative of Kazakhstan Elena Rybakina in the fourth round .
Krejcikova is 28 years old, she won her eighth WTA singles title and won her second Grand Slam title. In 2021, she won Roland Garros. In pairs, the athlete won the Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon twice, the US Open once, and also won gold at the Tokyo Olympics. In mixed doubles, the Czech won three times at the Australian Open.
Paolini lost in the final at the second Grand Slam tournament in a row — in June she lost in the decisive match of Roland Garros to Poland's Iga Szwiatek.
