CHISINAU, July 14 The Moldovan authorities are ready to “crush” the entire agricultural sector of the republic to please Western curators, exempting Ukrainian grain from phytosanitary control, said a member of the Moldovan parliament from the opposition block «Victory» Alexander Nesterovsky in his Telegram channel.
On July 11, the parliamentary majority adopted a bill that provides for the exemption from the control of the National Agency for Food Safety of grain crops of Ukrainian origin, which are transported in transit through the territory of Moldova. < br />“The exemption of Ukrainian grain from phytosanitary control is another example of how foreign companies are provided with benefits, while our farmers are forced to suffer losses due to European reforms. The abolition of phytosanitary control will have serious consequences for the agriculture of Moldova… And the only logical conclusion is that that such actions of the PDS (the ruling party “Action and Solidarity” — ed.) are an attempt to “crush” the entire agricultural sector of Moldova to please Western curators,” Nesterovsky wrote, noting that all this is happening against the backdrop of the ongoing crisis in agriculture republics.
The deputy emphasized that the abolition of phytosanitary control is a risk of importation of quarantine organisms into the republic and a threat to violation of quarantine standards.
“Without thorough grain inspection, there is a high probability of pests and diseases entering, which can cause significant damage to our crops and crops,” he explained.
Last year and early this year, a series of farmer protests took place in Moldova. The farmers demanded more than $22 million from the government as compensation for farms affected by the crisis. Then negotiations with Prime Minister Dorin Recan and the head of the Ministry of Agriculture Vladimir Boley were unsuccessful, the parties were unable to reach any solution.
