At Donald Trump's election rally, an attack occurred on member Corey Compatore, who died. The incident was reported by Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro.
Shapiro called for an end to hateful rhetoric and a better future for the country, asking for prayers for the victims and the victim's family. Comperatore, a 50-year-old former Buffalo fire chief, was described as a hero for saving his family at the rally.
The shooter, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, opened fire about 400 feet from the stage, where Trump spoke. As a result of the attack, Comperatore and two other people were wounded. Trump managed to avoid serious injury — the bullet only grazed his ear.
Crooks was killed by a sniper, and an AR-15 rifle was found in his possession. Explosive devices were found in his car. According to media reports, the weapon was purchased by the shooter's father. Crooks graduated from high school in 2022 and has not attracted police attention. His former classmate claims that he never expressed his political beliefs or hatred of Trump openly.
