WASHINGTON, July 17 Entrepreneur Elon Musk, who supported Donald Trump's candidacy in the upcoming US presidential election, has announced the «end of the career» of California Governor Gavin Newsom, who was named among possible candidates for the Democratic nomination if incumbent President Joe Biden leaves the race.
«Gavin's career is over,» Musk wrote on his social network X. The businessman continues to attack Newsom, which intensified after he signed a law expanding the powers of schools in matters of gender self-determination and sexual orientation of students. On Tuesday, Musk announced that he was moving the headquarters of SpaceX and the social network X from California to Texas to protect his employees.
Musk, who has announced his support for Trump in the upcoming US presidential election in November, intends to donate $45 million a month to a political committee to support the election campaign of former US President Donald Trump, according to sources in the Wall Street Journal.
Democrat Newsom, 56, has been the governor of California since 2019. After incumbent President Biden's poor performance in the televised debates and numerous calls in the Democratic camp for the 81-year-old head of state to withdraw from the fight for a second term, Newsom was named among potential contenders for the Democratic presidential nomination. Responding to Musk's statements about moving his companies to Texas, the California governor wrote on social media X: «you took a knee,» accompanying the post with a screenshot of the former president's critical remarks about Elon Musk.
