NIZHNY NOVGOROD, July 18 A resident of Novocheboksarsk was sentenced to 18 years in a maximum security colony for violent sexual assault on a child, the Chuvashia prosecutor’s office reports.
The court found that on the evening of November 6, 2023, on the sports ground on Stroiteley Street, a 54-year-old man, taking advantage of the absence of adults nearby, committed sexual assault against an 11-year-old girl. Moreover, he already had an outstanding conviction for committing a similar crime against a young child, for which he was serving a sentence of actual imprisonment, having been released in 2018, and was under administrative supervision. 
A criminal case was initiated under Article 132 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violent acts of a sexual nature against a minor).
«The court, taking into account the position of the prosecutor's office, sentenced the culprit to 18 years of imprisonment in a special regime penal colony,» the statement said.
It is noted that the Novocheboksarsk prosecutor's office submitted a submission to the republican Ministry of Internal Affairs regarding the improper work of the police with a supervised person, as a result of which the guilty officials were brought to justice.
As specified by the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Chuvashia, «according to the conclusion of the psychiatric forensic examination, the defendant suffers from a disorder of sexual preference «pedophilia», while he is sane — he can understand the actual nature and social danger of his actions and control them.»
