The Preobrazhensky District Court of Moscow banned the pages of four online stores that sold toilet paper with the image of a thousand-ruble bill. “Layout” drew attention to the court’s decisions.
Pages with souvenir toilet paper from the stores “Filkina Grata”, “Startex”, “Glavchudo” and “Sima-land”, which is known for flash mobs in support of Vladimir Putin. The prosecutor of the Preobrazhensky district, Oleg Alypov, had previously demanded that the dissemination of this information be prohibited.
As stated in the court decision in the “Filka Charter” case, the 1000 ruble banknote of the 1997 model depicts a monument to Yaroslav the Wise, “classified among the saints, revered by the Russian Orthodox Church.» The image of toilet paper with this bill may offend the feelings of believers, and therefore the pages on which it is sold should be blocked. Similar wording is given in the case of the Sima-land store.
“In a free democratic society, the dissemination of information materials of an illegal nature that can offend the religious feelings of believers cannot be protected by freedom of thought, speech, opinion and information,” the prosecutor’s office insisted in court. Judge Yulia Kuznetsova agreed with this.
As noted by Vestka, pages selling toilet paper have already been removed from the Glavchudo and Sima-land websites. At the same time, the page is still accessible through the links in “Filka’s letter” and “Startex”.
