Conspiracy theorist and former “curator of Ukraine” Sergei Glazyev became chief researcher at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Higher School of Economics

Sergey Glazyev became the chief research fellow of the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Center for Stability and Risk Studies at the Higher School of Economics (HSE). His page appeared on the university's website.

Glazyev was at various times a State Duma deputy, head of the economic security department in the Security Council, executive secretary of the Customs Union Commission, minister of the Eurasian Economic Commission, and adviser to Putin. In 2000, he was elected a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and in 2008, an academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The “Project” called Glazyev “the main curator of Ukraine” in the Kremlin in 2013: at that time, together with Putin’s godfather Viktor Medvedchuk, he “traveled around Ukraine” and talked about the disadvantages of association with the EU. From the leaked correspondence of Glazyev’s assistant Kirill Frolov, it followed that the head of the Institute of CIS Countries, Konstantin Zatulin, asked Glazyev for money for pro-Russian protests, and he took it from the Orthodox businessman Konstantin Malofeev, whose head of security service was Igor Strelkov-Girkin.

As an economist and ideologist, Glazyev is known for having repeatedly predicted the collapse of the dollar. In particular, in 2013, he gave the American currency «three to four» years to live, in 2020 — several months. He also proposed printing 7.5 trillion rubles to save the economy from stagnation and «protect ourselves from sanctions with the crypto ruble.»

The economist has written many articles about Ukraine — he advised «more active intervention in its affairs.» At the same time, in his opinion, the war was «unleashed by American and British intelligence services.»

In 2019, when Glazyev was still Putin's adviser, he wrote that under Zelensky he did not rule out «the possibility of a mass move to the lands of the South-East of Ukraine, «cleansed» of the Russian population, of residents of the Promised Land, tired of the permanent war in the Middle East.»

In 2020, in the article «Spirituality is an economic category,» Glazyev criticized the «ridiculous Varangian theory of the origin of Russian statehood» and supported the theory of a radical revision of history by Anatoly Fomenko, recognized as pseudoscientific. After this, leading academicians and heads of historical departments of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) appealed to the commission to combat pseudoscience and called the official «a person who does not know history well.»

In a program on «Tsargrad,» the economist said that the scenario of the pandemic and lockdown «was written and presented by the Rockefeller Foundation back in 2009.» Glazyev called «chipping, artificial intelligence and LGBT» «images of death.»

Since 2014, Glazyev has been under sanctions from the United States, the European Union, Canada, Australia and Switzerland due to the annexation of Crimea.
