Court Sentences Man Who Killed Moscow Jewelry Store Security Guard

MOSCOW, July 19 The Moscow City Court sentenced to 24 years in a maximum security colony a participant in a robbery at a jewelry store almost nine years ago, during which he shot a security guard, reports press service of the capital's prosecutor's office.
“The Moscow City Court sentenced previously convicted 42-year-old Ramil Ismailov to 24 years in prison. He was found guilty under paragraph 2, part 2 of article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder committed by an organized group, associated with robbery), paragraph a, b, part 4 of article 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (slavery), part 2 of article 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal trafficking of firearms),” the message says.

As established in court, in October 2015, Ismailov and four accomplices attacked a jewelry store on Znamenskie Sadki Street. Ismailov, noticing the guard, shot him three times. The man died on the spot.

After that, the raiders used an ax and the handle of a pistol to smash the windows, from where they stole jewelry worth more than 3.7 million rubles and disappeared.
During the attack, Ismailov injured himself on a glass window he broke. It was through blood that the attacker was identified through databases.
The prosecutor's office notes that Ismailov will serve his sentence in a high-security penal colony.
The verdict has not entered into legal force.
