MOSCOW, July 19 A global failure in the work of Microsoft could have occurred due to hackers, as well as due to changes in the system that were carried out by the specialists themselves, said Telecom Daily CEO Denis Kuskov.
Earlier it was reported about a global technical failure related to the operation of Microsoft laptops, due to which telecom operators, banks and airlines suffered massive losses. The American company, commenting on the technical failure, said that services are being restored and stabilization measures continue to be taken. < br />The cause was said to be a faulty update from cybersecurity vendor CrowdStrike that took affected computers and servers offline, forcing them into a recovery loop that prevented the machines from booting up properly.
«»This is a failure with the software caused by some external factors. That is, these are people, hackers tried, and the second option is a failure due to some changes in the current structure carried out by the specialists themselves. As a rule, both are solved by rolling back to the working situation,” Kuskov believes.
The head of the analytical agency Content Review, Sergei Polovnikov, in turn, expressed confidence that if the failure is associated with a Windows update, then it can be dealt with by rolling back the update and running the operating system in protected mode. In addition, according to him, in this case we can only talk about systems that were supplied to corporate users, and similar failures occur in all companies developing software.
He also assured that this would not affect Russia. “Microsoft is not officially represented in Russia. Even if there are some problems, no one will be able to solve them with Microsoft,” he believes.
