YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK, July 20 An earthquake of magnitude 4.4 occurred on Saturday night in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of the southern Kuril Islands, said Elena, head of the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk seismic station Semenov.
“An earthquake of magnitude 4.4 was recorded on the night of July 20. Its epicenter was located 82 kilometers southeast of the Kuril Island Iturup, the source was at a depth of 62 kilometers,” said the agency’s interlocutor. 
According to her, tremors with a force of up to 2 points could be felt by residents of Iturup. No tsunami alert was issued.
