WASHINGTON, July 21 A global technical failure affected 8.5 million devices running the Windows operating system, Microsoft Corp. announced Saturday.
«We estimate that the CrowdStrike update impacted 8.5 million Windows devices, or less than 1% of the total Windows devices,» Microsoft said in a blog post.
They clarified that hundreds of Microsoft engineers and experts who worked directly with customers were sent to respond to the incident and eliminate the causes of the failure.
«This incident demonstrates the interconnected nature of our vast ecosystem of global cloud service providers, software platforms, security and other software providers, and customers,» the American corporation added.
On Friday morning, a global failure of Windows-based equipment began, which affected telecom operators, banks and airlines around the world. The American company CrowdStrike has confirmed that a global outage in Windows occurred due to its update to the Falcon Sensor cybersecurity application.
