At the rally, Trump said that he “took a bullet for democracy,” and his opponents are engaged in disinformation, calling him a “threat to democracy.” He also expressed confidence in his own victory in the elections.
Last Sunday night, there was an assassination attempt on Trump during his rally in Pennsylvania. During the assassination attempt, Trump was wounded in the ear and, according to him, lost a lot of blood. Immediately after the first shots, the guards closed in on Trump. Later he spoke about what happened: according to him, he heard the sound of bullets and shots, and then felt “like a bullet tearing the skin.” It became known that a Trump supporter died during the shooting. In addition, it was reported that the attacker on Trump was killed, shot by security forces.
The media later revealed the identity of the attacker on Trump — it was US citizen Thomas Matthew Crooks, American media reported. As noted, he was armed with an AR-type sniper rifle and chose a shooting position at a distance of about 100 meters from the stage where Trump spoke.
US President Joe Biden addressed the American people after the assassination attempt. He noted that he was glad to hear that Trump was safe and called on the entire country to condemn this act. The US Secret Service has launched an official investigation into the assassination attempt.
