KEMEROVO, July 22 The balcony of an apartment building collapsed along with the owner of the apartment in Kemerovo, a woman was hospitalized with injuries, the press service of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation said in a statement in the Kemerovo region.

"According to the investigation, on July 22, 2024, a balcony slab collapsed in an apartment in one of the houses on Initiative Street in the city of Kemerovo, as a result of which the owner of the apartment fell from the height of the second floor. The woman was hospitalized with injuries to a medical facility,” the report says.
Investigators have opened a criminal case on the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements (clause «b» of part 2 of article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). It is noted that at the moment, investigators are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
As the press service of the regional prosecutor's office reports, the prosecutor of the Kirovsky district of the city, Dmitry Gavrilenko, has left for the scene of the incident.

«Based on this fact, the prosecutor's office of the Kemerovo region — Kuzbass organized an inspection of compliance with housing legislation, during which the actions of responsible officials of the management organization will be given a legal assessment, and if necessary, prosecutorial response measures will be taken,» the supervisory agency reports.
In addition, the prosecutor's office monitors the progress of the criminal investigation initiated by the investigative department of the region's Investigative Committee.
