In Paris, two Russian women were detained trying to enter the territory of the Olympic opening ceremony; one of them was in the trunk

In Paris, near the Pont Alma, a car with a 44-year-old Frenchman and two Russian women, one of whom was in the trunk, was detained. This was reported by Le Parisien, the Agency was the first to draw attention to the publication.

From July 18, a special regime was introduced in the city center along the Seine. It will be in effect until the opening ceremony of the Olympics, which will take place on the embankment on July 26.

Only pedestrians and cyclists are allowed there using special QR codes. They are given to people who live or work there, as well as to customers of local hotels, restaurants and museums with reservations. There are exceptions for cars. Similar restrictions were introduced in other places in Paris, where the Olympic Games will be held.

According to Le Parisien, a car with a Frenchman at the wheel and two Russian women was stopped on Monday, July 22, “at the end of the day.” They were detained after finding a 25-year-old girl in the trunk.

“[Special services] discovered that the girl hiding in the trunk had twice previously sent requests for accreditation to the Olympic Committee. The requests were rejected after security checks. After that, the Russian woman made a request to receive a QR code [to get to the embankment], but was refused again in July,” the newspaper recounts the words of its interlocutors.

By now, all three have been released on an obligation to appear.

The Summer Olympic Games will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11. 15 people from Russia will go to them in the status of “neutral athletes”. For the first time in 40 years, the competition will not be broadcast on Russian television.

The French authorities refused to allow some journalists and doctors from Russia to attend the Olympics, fearing espionage and cyber attacks. Accreditation was also denied to five employees of the state agency RIA Novosti.

Yesterday it was reported that a 40-year-old Russian was detained, who was suspected of preparing acts of “destabilization” during the Olympics. According to the investigation version cited by the AFP agency, he transmitted intelligence information “with the aim of inciting hatred in France.”

At the end of May, French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin spoke about the arrest of an 18-year-old Chechen who was suspected of preparing terrorist attack during the Olympics. According to French law enforcement, the young man was planning to attack the Geoffroy Guichard stadium in the city of Saint-Etienne. Darmanen claims that the Chechen was “inspired” by Islamist ideology and was going to “die a martyr’s death.”
