The Israeli anthem was loudly booed at the Parc des Princes stadium before the Israeli men's soccer match against Mali, a Muslim-majority country, while dozens of Palestinian flags were hung throughout the stadium. Also outside the stadium, a group of 13 people wearing T-shirts with the inscription “Free Palestine” was found, whom the police were forced to surround.
On October 7, 2023, Israel was subjected to an unprecedented-scale rocket attack from the Gaza Strip. The Russian Foreign Ministry called on the parties to stop hostilities. According to Moscow's position, a settlement is possible only on the basis of a formula approved by the UN Security Council with the creation of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with its capital in East Jerusalem.
