MOSCOW, July 25 At a plenary session, the State Duma adopted in the first reading a bill banning advertising on the information resources of undesirable organizations.
The bill was introduced to the State Duma in June; it proposes to prohibit the distribution of advertising on the information resources of a foreign or international non-governmental organization whose activities are recognized as undesirable on the territory of the Russian Federation.
If a court recognizes a public or religious association or other organization as extremist, the distribution of advertising on the Internet is also prohibited on the information resources of such an association or such organization, the document specifies.
«We are consistently working to eliminate any opportunity for those organizations and individuals who deliberately harm Russia to earn money in our country, and use the money they earn to finance the enemy and subversive activities,» Vasily Piskarev, head of the State Duma Committee on Security, wrote on his Telegram channel.
He added that advertising on foreign agent resources is already prohibited.
«It is proposed to ban advertising on other information resources, access to which is restricted in accordance with our laws. This also applies to popular foreign social networks blocked in Russia,» the deputy added.
He also recalled that cooperation with undesirable organizations, which includes advertising, is already punishable in the Russian Federation in accordance with the Code of Administrative Offenses and the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
