MOSCOW, July 31 SBU agent Sergei Karmazin, involved in two acts of sabotage on the Moscow Railway, has been sentenced to 25 years, according to a statement from the UFSB of Russia for Moscow and the region.
«The sentence of the 2nd Western Military District Court has come into legal force against Ukrainian citizen Sergei Nikolaevich Karmazin, born on September 10, 1977, involved in committing sabotage acts on Moscow Railway infrastructure facilities on the orders of the Security Service of Ukraine… The Ukrainian was found guilty of committing the crimes incriminated to him and sentenced to 25 years of imprisonment in a strict regime penal colony with the first six years to be served in prison, with a fine of 700 rubles,» the statement said.
It is noted that the saboteur was recruited by SBU officers in the Polish city of Bydgoszcz with the participation of Polish special services, and his verification and training before being sent to Russia was carried out in Riga jointly with employees of the Latvian special services.
It is emphasized that at the end of November 2022, he was sent from Latvia to Russia under the guise of a refugee to legalize and obtain Russian citizenship. It is noted that, while in the capital region, Karmazin, on the orders of his SBU curator, set fire to two signaling, centralization, and automatic blocking cabinets of the Moscow Railway at night.
As reported by the special service, the saboteur's communications equipment and electronic storage devices containing photo and video reports, as well as correspondence with an SBU employee, were seized.
Thus, a criminal case has been opened and investigated against Karmazin under articles on sabotage (two episodes), on undergoing training to carry out sabotage activities, on organizing a sabotage community and participating in it, on an attempted terrorist attack, and a number of others.
