Court overturns acquittal of Vladivostok judge's brother in Nazi rehabilitation case over 'Vlasovite' picture

The Fifth Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction overturned the acquittal of Vladivostok resident Alexei Chernyansky in the case of rehabilitation of Nazism. The human rights project «OVD-Info» drew attention to the court's decision.

The case was sent for a new trial to the Primorsky Regional Court, where, according to the OPS-Media publication, Chernyansky's sister works. It was this court that acquitted the man in May.

According to OPS-Media, the case against Chernyansky was opened because of the image of a serviceman Russian Liberation Army, which he sent on February 23, 2022, to the garage cooperative group on WhatsApp with the words: «So is it okay if I congratulate you?»

According to the man, the case was opened after a denunciation by an officer of the Pacific Higher Naval School (TOVVMU). Chernyansky explained to the court that the officer congratulated the chat participants on February 23 with a photo of Admiral Alexander Kolchak, and he responded with an image of a «Vlasovite».

In his final statement, Chernyansky said that “a Russian officer does not resolve his personal issues with the help of the FSB and such reports.” He added that he also studied at TOVVMU.
