Avito Auto experts analyzed data on demand, supply and prices for new cars presented on the platform by car dealers in the first half of 2024. The leaders in demand were Russian and Chinese brands of passenger cars, and the most popular model was VAZ (LADA) Granta.
According to Avito Auto, the number of dealers offering cars on the platform in the first half of 2024 compared to the same period last year increased by 29.4%. The supply of new cars from dealers increased year-on-year by 67%.
In the top 5 offers of new cars presented on Avito Auto by dealers, by brand, Chery is the leader: the share of cars of this brand in the offer was 13.9%, and the increase in the number of ads over the year is multiple — 102.9%. In second place is VAZ (LADA), which took 13.4% of all offers of dealers. Year on year, the number of ads for the sale of cars of this brand increased by 31.6%. The third line is occupied by Geely with a share of 10.8% with a fourfold increase in offer over the year. Next is Haval: its share was 10.4%, and the growth was 80.1%. Changan closes the top five, whose share is 7.2% with an increase in the number of ads more than threefold.
The undisputed leader in demand among brands is VAZ (LADA), which received 29.3% of the total demand for new cars from dealers on the platform. Chery is in second place with 7.2%, and Haval is in third place with 7.1%. Geely is in fourth place with 6.2%, and Changan is in fifth place with a 6.0% share of demand among brands.
The most popular among the models was the VAZ (LADA) Granta: its share in demand is 11.0%. In second place is the VAZ (LADA) Niva Legend with 6.9%, and in third place is the VAZ (LADA) Vesta with 6.1%. The fourth and fifth lines of the rating are occupied by Haval Jolion and OMODA C5, which received 3.3% and 2.7% of demand, respectively. Also in the top 10 are the VAZ (LADA) Niva Travel, Moskvich 3, Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max, Chery Tiggo 4 Pro and GAC GS8. The most dynamically growing demand is for the LADA Vesta — more than four times year-on-year.

There is potential for growth in dealer sales in the new car segment, and it is very significant. An important driver of demand for new vehicles is the aging fleet of affordable European and American cars in this category. An additional impetus to demand is provided by modern models from Chinese manufacturers with impressive specifications, a warranty on new cars, and other advantages offered by dealers.
