The compact Ford Maverick pickup truck with a monocoque body, which has just undergone a restyling, is now available in the driver's version of Lobo with a lowered suspension, two individual clutches with rear-wheel drive, a special track driving mode and a number of other improvements.
We talked about the restyled Ford Maverick yesterday, and today it turned out that the pickup range now includes a sports version, Lobo, and it is not focused on off-roading, like the existing sports versions of other North American Ford pickups, but on public roads and a race track. The name Lobo is not deciphered in the press release, it can be literally translated into Russian as «wolf» or «hooligan», or it can be considered an abbreviation for low body, which means «lowered body». In essence, all interpretations are quite fair.

The appearance of the sports version of the Maverick is obviously connected with its wild popularity in the USA (details with figures — in our note yesterday), which surprised even Ford marketers — the Lobo version should further spur sales. Let us recall that the Maverick is based on the passenger platform C2 from the European Focus of the latest generation, that is, it is initially quite a driver's platform, but, of course, in connection with a rather bulky truck, it had to be worked on a little.

The Ford Maverick Lobo is offered only with a 2.0-liter petrol turbo-four EcoBoost (241 hp, 373 Nm) in combination with a faster-firing 7-speed automatic transmission (other 2.0-liter versions have an 8-speed automatic) and all-wheel drive, and the all-wheel drive here is not simple, but with two individual power take-off couplings on the wheel building, like the off-road version of Tremor. The engine is equipped with an improved cooling system with a larger radiator, and the gearbox is equipped with an oil cooler.

The ground clearance of the Lobo has been reduced from 210 to 188 mm compared to the standard all-wheel drive version of the pickup, the powerful front brakes with two-piston calipers are borrowed from the European hot hatch Ford Focus ST, the steering has been reconfigured. In addition, a track driving mode of the same name has been developed specifically for the Lobo for the most aggressive cornering — it cannot be turned on on public roads. Meanwhile, the Lobo version has the smallest load capacity in the range — only 474 kg, the permissible mass of the towed trailer is 907 kg.

The exterior features of the Ford Maverick Lobo include its own radiator grille design with thin vertical bars, a new front bumper with fog lights and a reduced area of unpainted plastic, body-colored sills and a rear bumper (other versions have black ones) and 19-inch alloy wheels with massive hubs. The interior of the Lobo version received a unique finish in blue, “electrified” tones with contrasting stitching in the spirit of street art and a dashboard with special graphics.
Orders for the Ford Maverick Lobo are already being accepted, but the first units will be shipped to customers only in early 2025. The sports pickup truck is available in two trim levels: Standard for $36,595 and High for $42,090 (in both cases, delivery is included in the price). In the High trim level, the pickup truck is equipped with a sunroof, protective body coating, heated steering wheel and seats, adaptive cruise control, all-round cameras, trailer assist and other amenities.
